The June 7, 2022 Primary Election is rapidly approaching. Visit our election resources page to make a plan for how, when and where to vote. Learn what’s on your ballot watch recordings of past candidate forums, download the California Easy Voter Guide, and visit Voter's Edge. Enter your address on Voter’s Edge to get a personalized list of candidates and ballot measures, including biographies, top priorities, who supports each candidate, and more.

If you are free on either June 4 or June 7 and live in or near Alameda County, Asian Americans Advancing Justice is looking for volunteers to help with their poll monitoring program. It’s a great program that helps ensure our elections are accessible, while also helping us understand some of the challenges voters can face.

Help protect democracy. Strengthen our communities and meet new people.

Joe Mathews writes a weekly column which appears in 30+ newspapers throughout California, including the Mercury News and SF Chronicle. Recent thought-provoking opinion pieces include "California is aging -- that's what makes Feinstein the perfect representative" and "UC, CSU should stop requiring applicants graduate high school."

Planned Parenthood Bans off our bodies

In response to the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, the League of Women Voters of Piedmont echoes the sentiments of this press release from the Alameda County Council of the League of Women Voters. We support every individual's access to reproductive health care. We urge our members and allies to make their voices heard on this issue.

The League of Women Voters of the United States president and CEO also issued a joint statement on this topic on May 3, 2022.

LWVP Annual Essay Contest 2022 Winner
Holden Temple
League of Women Voters of Piedmont announces the winner of its High School Essay Contest, Piedmont High School senior, Holden Temple.  The contest, in its 3rd year, is open to juniors and seniors enrolled at one of Piedmont’s high schools or to any high school junior or senior who is a Piedmont resident.

The winner receives a $500 cash award. Holden's winning essay, entitled "Money Talks: Limits on Individual Political Donations," responded to the essay prompt: "Should monetary political contributions be treated as 'speech' that deserves First Amendment protection? What actions should the League of Women Voters take with respect to this issue?"
