We’re excited to be part of a national effort to strengthen our democracy by registering voters on this year’s National Voter Registration Day, which will take place on September 20, 2022 and marks the 10th anniversary of this nationwide celebration of democracy.
| | | We will be at Piedmont High School during their lunch period starting at 1pm. You can also join LWV of Oakland in registering voters at the Fruitvale and MacArthur BART stations from 5pm to 7pm. We hope you'll join us in registering voters in Piedmont and Oakland for this Year's National Voter Registration Day! | How Textiles Affect Climate Change
Wednesday, October 19th at 4pm PT | Join Piedmont Connect and LWVP for Rebecca Burgess’s presentation on the enormous impacts of the global fashion and textiles industry and learn how to shop, dress, sleep, eat and decorate your homes and businesses sustainably.

| | | A Climate-Resilient and Equitable Water Future for California
Thursday, September 22th at 6pm PT | The League of Women Voters of San Francisco would like to invite you to join them for the next of a “Spotlight On” series of educational events: A Climate-Resilient and Equitable Water Future for California. This is the first of two events that LWVSF will be hosting on water in California, a pressing issue as California and the Bay Area struggle with climate change, drought, and water crisis. This first event will cover the history of water systems and infrastructure in California, demand and what needs to change, and visions for responding to future water use and needs.

Where: online via Zoom | | | Featured speaker Dr. Newsha Ajami is the Chief Strategy and Development Officer for Research in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Area at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and a mayoral appointee to the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. A member of the League of Women Voters of California’s Water Committee will discuss the League’s positions on water resources, what we are doing to support these positions, and what issues we are monitoring and actions we are recommending.

Sunday, August 18, 2022 at 11am-3pm | This year's Harvest Festival will feature all the fun events and activities you've come to expect: the Piedmont Education Foundation Carnival, the Jazz Festival, the Piedmont Edibles Contest, and Food Trucks alongside the Village Market Farmer's market. Come find the LWVP table where you can register to vote or update your voter registration, and learn about what our League has in store for the coming year. Wildfire Mitigation in the Bay Area: What Can Be Done? | Piedmont Connect and the League of Women Voters of Piedmont kicked off their 2022-23 Climate Speaker Series on Wednesday, September 7, with a dynamic and information-dense presentation by Sara Paul, Watch Duty app founder and fire mitigation expert. Sara’s pithy talk was loaded with practical, actionable preparation tips and prioritized recommendations for receiving accurate, reliable, real-time information when a disaster occurs.
