| | | LWVP Holiday Luncheon is back!
Friday, December 2nd at 11am | Please join the League of Women Voters of Piedmont on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11am for the return of our Annual Holiday Luncheon with guest speaker Shannon Olivieri Hovis, Director of NARAL Pro‑Choice California. She will speak about the current state of reproductive rights in the country and how California is leading the fight to protect this critical right in light of the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade. RSVP deadline for lunch is November 20th.
When: Friday, December 2, at 11 am
Where: Piedmont Community Hall, 711 Highland Avenue, Piedmont CA 94611
Lunch will be served: $40 members and $45 guests

Join the conversation with local “water walkers” John Silva and Nina Gordon-Kirsch as we learn about their recent 200 plus mile adventure tracing the entire length of the Mokelumne River to call attention and raise awareness to the value of our water supplies.

| | | Event Recap: What Lies Ahead for Ukraine? | Steven Pifer, former US Ambassador to Ukraine, joined the League of Women Voters of Piedmont on November 2, 2022 to discuss the current situation and prospects for Ukraine. The live audience included members from 16 different Leagues from California, Oregon, and Michigan. Topics included a brief recap of the war in Ukraine, options for ending the war, the effects of the war within Russia, the risk for Europe and other neighboring countries, US involvement and public opinion, and nuclear threats.

| | | Event Recap: Roe v. Wade 2022 & Beyond
| The Alameda County Council (ACC) of the League of Women Voters hosted a panel titled "Roe v. Wade 2022 & Beyond" on November 3rd, 2022. The ACC includes the following Leagues: Alameda, Berkeley Albany Emeryville, Eden Area, Fremont Newark Union City, Oakland, and Piedmont. The panel featured Stacy Cross, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, and Nakia Woods, Project Director for California Coalition for Reproductive Freedom.
