| Save the date for our 2024 Annual Meeting: June 21st at 7pm!
This is our most important meeting of the year where LWVP Members vote to elect the new Board of Directors, approve the 2024-2025 budget, and affirm our local Leagues' positions and programs. It is imperative that we have a quorum in order to conduct business, so your attendance is important! Drinks and desserts will be provided. The business portion of the meeting will start at approximately 7:15pm.

| LWVP at the Piedmont Food Fest
Saturday, April 20th - 11am to 4pm | |
Piedmont Food Fest 3 is coming to town Sat, April 20 and LWV Piedmont is excited to be a part of this event! Please join us at Food Fest and visit our table at the Community Zone, located at the Community Center circle in Piedmont Park.
Attendees will be treated to a full day of fun, including:
- 20 food vendors including The Chairman, Bonita Poke, Satay By the Bay, Ceviche & Co, Robert Dorsey Catering, Arthur Mac's, Tea on Piedmont, and Lahore Di Khushboo
- All-Day Beer & Wine tastings including Oakland United Beerworks, Alameda Island Brewing, Blindwood Cider, Canyon Club Brewery, Deer Hill Vineyards, Maker Wine, and Woods Beer & Wine Co.
- KidZone featuring carnival games, sno-cones, cultural crafts section
- Performances from the Beloved Little Circus aerialists, O Hina'aro Nui Tahitian Dance, Hiiiwav Black Artist Incubator, Great Wall Youth Orchestra, Amor do Samba, Oakland Taiko, and Devendra Sharma Folk Opera Ensemble
- Local Retailers including Immedium Books, Oakland Roots, and Shared Cultures

State law mandates that county boards of supervisors oversee sheriffs’ offices. AB 1185, which took effect in 2021, gave counties the authority to establish civilian oversight boards to assist supervisors in that role. It is a proactive step towards enhancing sheriff accountability and transparency. LWV supports a more independent board with more power to investigate. Learn more here.
